For several years The Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages has benefitted from the expertise of the members of its International Advisory Committee in preparing the activities of the future Vigdís International Center of Multilingualism and Intercultureal Understanding.
The International Advisory Committee counts four highly respected scholars : Professor Anju Saxena from the University of Uppsala, Professor Bernard Comrie, director of the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig, Professor Jens Allwood from the University of Gothenburg, and Professor Peter Austin from SOAS University of London.
On December 6-7 2012, the International Advisory Committee members had meetings in Iceland with the members of The Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute, except for Bernard Comrie who was absent. The object of the meetings was to present and discuss plans concerning research and future activities of the Institute, in particular the opportunities offered by The Vigdís International Center of Multilingualism and Intercultureal Understanding, which will be located in a new building to be constructed on the University campus.
During the preparative work, the knowledge and the experience dispensed by the international scholars has been invaluable.
