Cuban Contemporary Literature

Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo gives a talk about the recent trends in Cuban literature, focusing on the literary movement of the Generation Year Zero. The lecture takes place on Tuesday 12 April at 12.00-1 pm in room 101 in Lögberg at the University of Iceland.

Orlando Lazo is a writer, blogger and social activist from Cuba. He left Cuba in 2013 due to political harassment. Since September 2015, he lives in Reykjavik as part of the International Cities of Refugee Network (ICORN) program.

Orlando Lazo wrote the novel Boring Home which was awarded the Czech Literary Award in 2014. In addition, he edited and wrote forewords to the short stories collection Cuba in Splinters. Eleven Stories from the New Cuba, an anthology of short stories from the Generation Year Zero.
