Language and Cultural Database

A language centre will be established where databases housing electronic  data on the world’s languages, beginning with the fourteen languages taught at the University of Iceland. The next step will be to add minority European languages and then gradually extend to other languages. By making this data accessible in one place a unique venue will be created for research and academic dialogue on languages and cultures.

The Centre will have a specialized library with an extensive selection of materials related to languages, including books, academic journals on languages, culture and linguistics, films and electronic data for students and teachers.
