Iceland participates in the European Language Resource Coordination (ELRC), a European cooperation project revolving around language resources, see http://www.lr-coordination.eu/.
A workshop presenting the project was held in the Culture House in Reykjavík on Friday 11 November. The workshop was primarily aimed at representatives and staff of public services as the project is intended to facilitate the access of the general public to public administration in Europe.
The cooperation project was launched in 2015 within Connecting Europe Facility, see http://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/en/connecting-europe-facility. The main objective of the cooperation is to gather all kinds of language resources and corpora which can be used to develop machine translations in order to make all access to services easier, across languages and borders. The project includes all official languages of the European Union as well as Norwegian and Icelandic.
