High Level Launch IDIL 2022-2032

The event brings together policy makers, Indigenous leaders, academics, public and private organizations, as well as UN-system entities. Together, they will act to exchange and propose measures to ensure the safeguarding and promotion of Indigenous languages.

Following a traditional opening ceremony by Indigenous delegations, the day will begin with the high-level opening session, followed by four roundtable discussions. The roundtable discussions will address four essential aspects of the preservation and promotion of Indigenous languages: Challenges of social inclusion for indigenous peoples; Access to information and digital resources in Indigenous languages; the crucial role of these languages in climate action; and the importance of international cooperation to protect indigenous languages. The event will conclude with performances by Indigenous musicians and artists.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French, Spanish, and Russian. The organizers will provide Live Captioning Services in English and LIVE streaming on our social media channels for remote participants to enjoy the event.
