The Nordic Institute of Asian Studies (NIAS) and the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute for Foreign Languages at the University of Iceland are inviting scholars to submit panel proposals for the “Generation Asia – 2022 Nordic NIAS Council Conference“.
About the conference: How is generational change transforming society, culture and politics across Asia? Does a creative, iconoclastic Generation Z pose a major challenge to traditional hierarchies and values? What is the impact of demographic change in countries with a rapidly aging population? Is there something we can learn from Asian traditions of intergenerational exchange?
These and many other intriguing questions arise from the theme of the 2022 NNC conference.
As always, we welcome papers and panels on all aspects of Asian studies, not limited to the conference theme, from across the humanities and social science.
About panel proposals: Proposals should include a title and 150-word abstract. Please indicate whether you are planning a traditional panel format (with 3-4 papers) or a roundtable discussion (3-5 speakers). If you have already identified potential speakers, please give their names and affiliations. We are striving for diverse conference participation in terms of gender, institution, nationality, origin and career stage.
An open call for individual papers will be announced in the new year.
