Ásdís R. Magnúsdóttir studied French language and literature (Lettres modernes) at the Stendhal University (Grenoble 3) from 1988 to 1997 and completed her PhD in French literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance in 1997.
Her main centres of research are French medieval literature, translations and reception of French literature in Iceland and Scandinavia. Ásdís R. Magnúsdóttir is also interested in the short story and other forms of shorter writings, translation and history of ideas, and is engaged in projects related to these topics, such as: The French wave in Icelandic theatre 1960-2000; Reception and translation of French short stories in Iceland; Kvöldvökurnar by Hannes Finnsson; From lays to literary tales: reception and circulation in Europe.
She has translated several French literary works into Iceland and is now working on Charles Baudelaires prose poems (Le Spleen de Paris) and Chrétien‘s de Troyes, The Knight of the Chart (Lancelot).
