Beth Cortese is an Assistant Professor in Restoration and Eighteenth Century English Literature. Beth completed her PhD in English Literature at Lancaster University (UK). Beth previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the interdisciplinary and collaborative Unearned Wealth: A Literary History of Inheritance project at Aarhus University. She is also a published children´s author.

Her research interests include the following: comedy and wit, interactions with the audience in the theatre, the representation of women in long eighteenth-century fiction and drama, women´s writing, creative writing, and digital humanities.
