Danila Sokolov is an Assistant Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature. He holds doctorates from the University of Waterloo and St. Petersburg State University. Before joining the University of Iceland, Danila worked at the University of Saskatchewan, S. Jerome’s University, Wilfrid Laurier University, St. Petersburg State University, and Smolny College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Alberta and Brock University.
His research focuses on late medieval and early modern English poetry, with a specific emphasis on lyric theory, poetic form, and the relationship between poetry and law. He also has an interest in the history of early modern diplomacy.
