Gunnella Þorgeirsdóttir holds a doctoral degree in East-Asian Studies from Sheffield University since 2015 and completed a MA degree in Folklore at the same University in 2006. She carried out her doctoral research on superstitions and rituals pertaining to pregnancy in Japanese society, as a student of Kokugakuin University in Tokyo 2006-2008.
Gunnella’s main area of research are contemporary Japanese culture, traditions, legends, humour, festivals and supernatural beings.
