Irma Erlingsdóttir holds a doctoral degree in French contemporary literature from the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 (2012), a DEA degree in contemporary literature from the Université Sorbonne Paris VIII, Vincennes (1995), an MA degree from the Université Paul-Valéry, Montpellier (1994), a licence degree from the same university (1993) and a BA degree in French from the University of Iceland (1992).
Irma’s research interest lies in contemporary French literature and philosophy, cultural studies, gender studies and history. Irma has written articles, edited scholarly books and organized colloquia and events. Since the year 2000, she is the director of RIKK – Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference at the University of Iceland. She is also the director of EDDA – Centre of Excellence and the GEST Programme, both projects launched in 2009 at the University of Iceland.
