Sigrún Alba Sigurðardóttir is curator at the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages. She is a part-time lecturer in history and art theory, and a PhD student in Danish at Faculty of Languages and Cultures, at the University of Iceland. Her PhD research is on trauma, resonance and relation to nature in Danish contemporary literature and fine art.
Previously, Sigrún Alba was Associate Professor and Dean of the Department of Design and Architecture at Iceland University of the Arts. In recent years, she has also worked as a curator on exhibitions for several museums and art galleries, including the National Gallery in Iceland, Hafnarborg Art Museum, Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen, and Landskrona Foto in Sweden.
Sigrún Alba holds an MA degree in Modern Culture and Cultural Representation from the University of Copenhagen and a BA degree in History from the University of Iceland. Her research focus includes photographic studies, memory studies, trauma theory and historiography, as well as art theory and Danish contemporary literature.
